spanning over 1,300 years,
and is known as a therapeutic hot spring resort.
The springs include alkaline radium
and are said to be effective
in healing gastrointestinal diseases,
neuralgia, and external wounds.
It became famous in the early Meiji period
when it was used as a

It is a place still loved today as a

About Toji no Akari
(LED floating lanterns)
Komono Town was gifted the "Aotaki Falls Lantern" by a patron who was healed by the hot springs of Yunoyama Onsen. It was lit for many years as a symbol of the healing properties of the springs, but it eventually fell into disuse. The town is currently putting an effort into reviving this lantern tradition by providing Toji no Akari (portable LED floating lanterns) to visitors. The light emitted from the lanterns against Komono Town's rich nature makes a great photo opportunity!
